eMazzanti Article: 3 Signs Managed IT is Needed

SHARE

Hoboken, New Jersey - (Vocus) Feb, 2014 –An article by eMazzanti Technologies, an IT support specialist in the New York City area, identifies three signs companies can use to determine if managed IT (using an external computer expert) is a viable option. The article is entitled: “3 Signs You Need Managed Services.”

“Managed services can be generally defined as outsourcing day-to-day management responsibilities,” said Jennifer Mazzanti, president, eMazzanti Technologies. “In the computer world, the definition is more specific and usually means the 24×7 monitoring and the day-to-day IT administrative duties of a whole network.”

How a company knows it can benefit

The two most important indicators for most business owners are going to be whether a change will save them time and/or money.

Analyze your current practices to get an accurate accounting of how much IT services and support are currently costing.  Could managed IT lower your costs and free up time for employees that are pulled from their regular duties?  If signs are pointing to ‘yes,’ then can costs be compared to an estimate from a reputable managed services provider and an informed decision can be made.

Below are some signs that it might be time for a company to make the move to managed services.

The Company has no dedicated IT professional on staff

Many (if not most!) small- to medium-sized businesses have IT needs that will quickly overwhelm the time and skills of the unlucky staff member who isn’t an IT professional—but just happens to be the most tech-savvy person around. Many business owners find themselves in a tough position trying to keep control of technology needs while also running business.

Even if the tech support task is delegated to someone else, it still means someone on the staff is spending a large amount of time fixing IT problems rather than being productive at their job. And they probably don’t have the time or tech knowledge to plan for future IT needs—potentially dooming a company to a continually reactive cycle that never addresses future growth, challenges, or demands on a network

If a business doesn’t have a dedicated IT person, managed services may be the right substitute. Rather than paying the salary and benefits for another employee, a company could pay a reduced amount for managed services.

The IT professional is swamped with everyday tasks—and things are falling through the cracks.

Is the in-house IT person staying on top of software licensing? Are security updates and upgrades being run continually on all your computers, servers, and other devices? Even a single seasoned professional can be overrun with work that keeps piling up, and the biggest culprit is the everyday management and monitoring tasks that get delayed or sidelined when a higher priority issue comes up.

If an IT professional needs help with the daily tasks in order to concentrate on the more important projects, managed services can supplement existing resources.
