Situation
Deepwater Wind is pioneering a new era in American energy independence, and the start of a cleantech economic revolution that will bring “green collar” jobs to states across the eastern seaboard. Though the company excelled in its wind energy solutions, it quickly discovered it needed help with developing a comprehensive IT solution. Collaboration, security, productivity and IT cost management were the four main issues it wanted to address.
Remote access to computer files from the road was also recognized as a necessity, especially for key management. The ability to have workflow continuity—emails, shared files, calendars—moving from one office to another was critical to maintaining productivity. There was also the very real concern about security. Files left on laptops or portable flash drives were vulnerable to theft or loss. Without proper network security, the company’s intellectual property and documents were at risk. Another concern extended to the need for a reliable backup solution that could provide business continuity should a disaster occur.
Solutions
Maximize Work Time
“We first became aware of eMazzanti Technologies in an Entrepreneur magazine article,” said Ian Kelly, Controller and Director of Administration, Deepwater Wind. “They talked in terms of outsourcing much of the hardware, software and support. Others wanted to sell us tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment.”
eMazzanti Technologies’ eCare is a robust family of services that includes eCare Network Management, eCare Business Continuity, and eCare Exchange. These services make it easier for customers to maintain their network, protect intellectual property and files as well as collaborate and share information more efficiently.
eCare Network Management
eMazzanti Technologies’ eCare Network Management service covers the technical support and maintenance aspects for a customer’s network for a fixed fee, per–asset, per-month. “Customers love this approach. We remotely monitor their networks 24×7 systematically performing preventative maintenance procedures along with emergency repairs,” commented Jennifer Mazzanti, President, eMazzanti Technologies.
eCare Business Continuity
The implementation of a Business Continuity solution is how a company regains access to its data and communications after a natural disaster, fire, hardware failure or human error. The importance of protecting irreplaceable data should take top priority and is a pillar of the eCare services.
eCare Exhange
Through eMazzanti Technologies’ managed eCare Exchange service, even the smallest companies can benefit from powerful Business Email and Collaboration. Its Five 9’s uptime guarantee and 24×7 world-class support makes eCare Exchange service from eMazzanti Technologies a great choice for small companies that want IT capabilities.
“The eCare family of services is essentially big IT solutions for small companies, all at a price point that clients find hard to resist,” noted Mazzanti.
Benefits
Full IT Support at a fraction of the Cost
All of the other IT consultants interviewed by Deepwater Wind recommended very expensive in-house hardware and software
solutions. Not so with eMazzanti’s recommendation. “We have the equivalent of a full IT department’s resources outsourced to eMazzanti,” said Kelly. “It’s significantly cheaper than owning it ourselves and is available at a fixed price allowing for predictable IT expenses.”
Secure Network Protects IP
Because Deepwater Wind is forging new cleantech solutions for a new energy generation, its intellectual property and business relationships are vital to its success. Its files and communications must be protected. “Our knowledge and experience is a competitive advantage,” said Kelly. Having the right security in place is vital.”
Protecting Deepwater Wind’s data is eMazzanti’s eCare Business Continuity service. “Backup security happens via our NAS device every 15-minutes in an offsite location,” said Kelly. “We sleep a lot better knowing our IP is protected against accident and theft.”
Dynamic Access Across All Locations
Next, Deepwater Wind will expand its IT infrastructure by upgrading its server to Microsoft’s latest operating system. This will link the Hoboken, Providence, and other satellite offices to allow full, secure file access with backup from either office. “Our goal is to have full, seamless access and security for any file for any executive anywhere,” said Kelly.
The New ‘Green’ Office
Deepwater Wind is focused on leading-edge, green technology solutions. Thinking and acting green is in its business’ DNA and eMazzanti has helped broaden the environmental definition green. “eMazzanti is helping us achieve the new ‘green’ office…saving resources and saving money,” said Kelly. “The idea of being environmentally friendly and managing our bottom-line with lower IT costs naturally appeals to us.”
