Seeing Double

6 Keys to Boosting Productivity

Opportunities
Seeing Double – Practical
Productivity
By Jane Cage, HTS COO
Do you have the luxury of doing only one task at a time? If you’re like me, I would
guess the answer is probably “No”. I find myself answering email, working on a
spreadsheet, looking at an accounting issue and searching for info on the
internet all at the same time. It’s just become part of the way that we all
work. Most computer users, however, are forced into single-tasking because of
the way they see their work – on a single monitor. Windows XP, VISTA and Windows
7 provide
desktop users with the ability to “spread” their desktop across multiple monitors.

Now more than
ever, companies are pushing their employees to work harder,
better and smarter. In effect, many employees are drowning
in work, are overwhelmed, less productive and don’t know
which task to handle first.
If this scenario
sounds familiar to you, then it’s time for our top tips and
some easy-to-implement ideas you might find useful.

New Article Captures Productivity Justification for
Multiple Monitors

Hoboken, New Jersey - June 20, 2011
–As an IT
support consultant serving small businesses in the
greater Hoboken, NJ and New York City areas,
eMazzanti Technologies wanted to see test firsthand
the productivity claims of using multiple monitors.
A new article capturing its findings is now
available here.
The results: Multiple monitors enable productivity gains
so significant that the Return on Investment was
less than one day.
“We instinctively knew adding monitors would add to
productivity,” said Jennifer Mazzanti, President, eMazzanti Technologies. “But we were hardly expected
a 50-65% jump.”
Add
Monitors, Add Productivity
For eMazzanti, a fully-burdened engineer can cost
him a minimum of $100 per hour. If multiple monitors
deliver a 50% boost in productivity, each tech can
generate $1200 in revenue a day instead of $800. If
a monitor costs $200, productivity gains can pay for
two additional monitors per day per engineer. Even
if your company has a lower Full Time Equivalent
(FTE) cost structure, the ROI is still significant
and surprisingly rapid.
eMazzanti’s results actually seem in-line with the
claims of other companies and the test results.
Mazzanti continued. “There does appear to be
diminishing returns after about eight or so monitors
because of overall cost versus other factors like
desk size and assumed employee hourly rates.”

Ten Tips
for Making Your Business More Efficient
To keep pace in
an increasingly competitive world, your business needs to
run as efficiently as possible. “Sooner or later, any
company not operating efficiently will be out of business,”
says Laurie McCabe, vice president of small and medium
business insights and solutions for research firm
AMI-Partners. Efficiency is even more important for small
and medium-sized businesses, McCabe adds, because their
resources are limited compared to large global companies.

Here are 10 tips
for using network technology to help your business work more
efficiently, cut costs, improve customer satisfaction, and
stay ahead of the competition.
