Top 3 Microsoft Edge Copilot Exclusive Capabilities to Drive Creativity and Productivity

Substantial controversy notwithstanding, AI assistants have undeniably changed the way we research and create. And Microsoft Edge Copilot has emerged as a leader in the AI landscape. While Google’s Gemini, ChatGPT, and other similar tools all deliver powerful capabilities, several Copilot exclusive capabilities make it stand out above the rest.

Seamless Integration for In Depth Research

In the first place, Microsoft has built Copilot directly into its Edge browser, so it integrates smoothly into your online experience. Unlike many AI tools that require separate applications or extensions, users can access Copilot via the Search bar or through a sidebar in the browser itself. This makes it incredibly efficient to conduct research.

As a research assistant, Copilot can summarize lengthy web pages or PDF documents, compare products, and perform contextual searches. It can also answer queries about the current web page and will suggest useful follow-up questions to help you conduct a deeper dive into the topic. It can even help you brainstorm related topics and suggest additional avenues to explore.

You can also ask Copilot to analyze an image or video, either one on the internet or one that you upload from your device. For example, after a busy trip to Europe, you may need some help remembering the sights you saw. Upload a photo and ask Copilot to tell you about it. In many cases, it will be able to identify the landmark and deliver useful information about it.

Once Copilot responds to your query, it displays several options below the response. By clicking one of these icons, you can approve or reject the response. You can also copy the information or export it in Word, PDF, or Text format. Finally, you can share the response on a variety of platforms, or you can ask Copilot to read it aloud.

Customizable Interactions

Unlike other AI platforms, Microsoft Copilot offers a variety of interaction styles. First, you can interact with Copilot by either typing or dictating your queries. Additionally, when interacting with Copilot on the Chat tab, you can choose from among the following three conversational styles:

  • Creative – Use this mode when you want to get a little playful or imaginative. While not incredibly useful for serious research, you can use Creative mode to generate jokes or learn random, whimsical tidbits. (For instance, did you know that a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance?)
  • Precise – On the other hand, Precise mode prioritizes precision and relevance. It will generate short, concise responses. Use this mode to gather quick facts, ask technical queries, or summarize lengthy content.
  • Balanced – As the name suggests, this mode strikes a balance between creativity and precision, generating responses that are both imaginative and informative. Balanced mode adapts fluidly to context and proves useful for everyday explanations, coding tasks, and so forth. When in doubt, use Balanced mode.

One-Stop Shopping for Diverse Content Creation

Copilot is certainly not the only AI platform to generate both visual and written content. However, it delivers a versatility and feature-rich experience that makes it stand out. For example, ask Copilot to write a poem about a foggy morning in the style of Robert Frost. Within seconds, Copilot delivers a surprisingly competent poem, adding generated images as a bonus.

Additionally, using the Compose tab, you can ask Copilot to write a paragraph, an email, a list of ideas, or a blog post. You specify the tone, such as professional or casual. You also specify the length. While the generated content generally needs tweaking, it serves as a great starting point and often provides good suggestions for organization and phrasing.

Copilot also does a good job generating original images, with capabilities as endless as your imagination. From the Chat tab, you can ask Copilot to create an image based on your description. Copilot will generate four images, and you can tweak the images by telling Copilot to add something new, remove something, change the background, and so forth.

To take your visual creativity even further, access the Image Creator through Microsoft Designer. Designer provides an entire creative playground, with plenty of options to help you create compelling visuals for a blog post, invitations for an event, and much more.
